Core Measurement FAQ
Q1 Which devices does DecoLens support? Can my iPhone run it?
DecoLens works on iPhone 11 and above. You can enter the color workflow directly after opening the app, without a black screen or “unsupported” notice.
Depending on your device, DecoLens automatically routes you to the best experience:
- Standard iPhone models without LiDAR use the dual-ring UI, manual alignment, and stabilization assistance to help maintain the ideal 20–30cm range.
- iPhone Pro / Pro Max models with LiDAR automatically upgrade to the high-precision pipeline, with fast radar lock (about 0.2 seconds) and a high-precision badge in results.
📌 Although iPad Pro includes LiDAR, it is currently not supported because its larger form factor makes it difficult to maintain the 20–30cm precision safe zone consistently.
Q2 Why does the orange lock indicator never turn on? Why can’t I capture a color?
This is a core part of how DecoLens maintains industrial-grade precision. If the UI does not enter the locked state, the current physical conditions do not meet the threshold. Check these three points:
- Measurement distance (Safe Zone): keep the phone lens 20–30cm from the target surface.
- Pitch alignment: keep the phone nearly parallel to the wall or material to avoid stray light.
- No highlight interference: if the surface is too reflective or highly uneven in color, the anti-glare algorithm blocks capture. Slightly shift the phone to avoid direct glare.
Q3 Do I need a physical 18% gray card to measure color accurately?
No. If you do not have a gray card, DecoLens still provides highly accurate LAB conversion using its built-in dynamic material sampling engine.
However, if you are working in a visually complex lighting environment, such as warm indoor bulbs mixed with cool daylight, we strongly recommend using a professional 18% gray card and tapping the CAL button. This overrides the white-balance baseline from RAW data and minimizes environmental color-cast Delta E error.
Q4 Is it normal for the phone to get slightly warm during long measurement sessions?
Yes. This is a normal physical effect. During live preview, DecoLens is running the lower-level hardware pipeline at full speed, including frequent LiDAR scans, pixel sampling, and LAB conversion.
When you are not measuring, move the phone away from the target and the app will automatically pause tracking to save power.
Q5 I subscribed to DecoLens Pro. How do I cancel or request a refund?
All subscriptions and payments are securely handled by Apple App Store. The DecoLens team cannot directly cancel or refund your purchase.
- Cancel subscription: open iPhone Settings, tap your Apple ID name, open Subscriptions, find DecoLens, and tap Cancel Subscription.
- Request refund: if the purchase was accidental, visit Apple’s Report a Problem (reportaproblem.apple.com) to submit a refund request.
Q6 After changing phones or reinstalling the app, why is my Pro access missing?
Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID. In DecoLens, try saving a color or switching to an advanced material, then tap “Restore Purchases” at the bottom of the paywall to recover your Pro entitlement.
